NBA PRESIDENT-ELECT, MR Y.C MAIKYAU, SAN PROMISES BETTER WELFARE PACKAGE FOR MEMBERS

The President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Y. C Maikyau has promised all members of the Association a better and improved welfare package.

He said: “I’ll ensure that I give welfare packages to all our members. My administration will build on what my predecessors have done”.

He said this on Tuesday at Eko Atlantic City during the 62nd Annual General Conference at the plenary session titled “NBA In Transition: Conversation with the NBA Presidents” which had in attendance the present NBA President, Olumide Akpata, Past Presidents, Mr Paul Usoro, SAN and Mr A.B Mahmoud, SAN.

Maikyau promised to uphold the legacy built by his predecessors and most importantly the Olumide Akpata led administration.

He thanked NBA members for electing him as the president and also participating in the election despite being an online voting.

He reiterated boldly to uphold decision making, create employment opportunities for young lawyers, improve and encourage health insurance for all members, deal with sexual harassment for female lawyers.

Olumide Akpata said that his administration had an effective Secretariat, better remuneration, and thereby urged the incoming president to continue with the set legacy.

He also urged members to participate in the affairs of the association and boldly lay their complaints when necessary.

Maikyau thanked his predecessors for maintaining transparency in justice delivery and pledged to build on it.

In conclusion, Maikyau promised to continue on the legacy of his predecessors.

“There’s nothing that will deter me from continuing in what our fathers have laid down”

He said that his administration will be fair to all and treat everyone equally no matter who the person is.
