The 7th Edition of the Legal Business Conference (LBC) 2026 will examine how effective legal frameworks and commercial structures can transform Nigeria’s sporting talent into sustainable economic opportunities.
The discussion will feature at Panel Session Two, themed “From Talent to Industry: Legal and Commercial Structures Driving Nigeria’s Sports Economy,” which will explore the legal and business mechanisms needed to strengthen the country’s sports industry and maximise its commercial potential.
Despite Nigeria’s wealth of sporting talent and growing sports ecosystem, converting athletic ability into sustainable commercial value requires appropriate legal, institutional and business structures. The session will examine how these structures can support athletes, clubs, investors, sponsors and other stakeholders across the industry.
Key areas of discussion will include athlete contracts, image rights, sponsorships, endorsements, intellectual property, broadcasting and media rights, talent management, investment and sports governance. The panellists will also consider how strategic commercialisation and stronger legal protections can create sustainable opportunities and attract investment into the sector.
The session will be moderated by Ifeoma Ben, LLM, MCIArb (UK), MBA, with Jesujoba Tosu, Rita Aniwiri Chindah, Anthony Atata and Telema Davies serving as panellists.
The discussion is expected to provide insights into the role of legal practitioners in structuring commercial relationships, protecting the interests of athletes and other industry participants, and developing business models that support the long-term growth of Nigerian sports.
The 7th Edition of the Legal Business Conference is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. prompt, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Victoria Island, Lagos.
With its broader focus on the intersection of law, commerce and creativity, LBC 2026 will bring attention to emerging opportunities in health, sports and fashion law, encouraging legal practitioners to explore new areas of practice and contribute to the development of these industries.
