The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of students on Monday, saying his administration would continue to prioritize Ekiti natives’ education and encourage them to pursue further education.

The governor made a statement in Ado Ekiti at the start of the documentation process for the distribution of a N22.3 million scholarship award for students at law schools from Ekiti. The governor was represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Kofoworola Aderiye.

He said the scheme, whereby 149 Law School students would receive N150,000 each was a demonstration of the government’s commitment “as a responsible and responsive government to give you the awards because we are committed to our promises.”

The commissioner charged the beneficiaries of the scholarship to display the excellence that the state was known for wherever they might find themselves globally.

The Executive Secretary, Ekiti State Scholarship Board, Mrs Bosede Jegede, encouraged the beneficiaries “to take the opportunity as a chance to have the world into your hands. Again, you must be disciplined.”

Jegede praised the state administration for establishing an environment that allowed the less fortunate sections of society to easily fulfill their objectives.

Emmanuel Folayan responded on behalf of the recipients and thanked the state government for upholding its commitment to the scholarship. He also made a commitment to represent Ekiti State with pride in their future endeavors.
