Three Convicts Escape While Being Transported To Prison In South Africa

Three dangerous criminals who escaped while being transported from Groblersdal to Witbank Prison have been sought after by police in Dennilton, Limpopo.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, around noon, the prisoners made their escape.

The three awaiting trial inmates, Michael Masimula, Mahlatse Matebane, and Lovemore Moshui are between the ages of 20 and 40.

They fled at Moutse Mall in the Dennilton policing area while being transferred to prison with three other prisoners, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The escapees appeared on accusations of murder, rape, armed robbery, cash-in-transit heists, and possession of illegal guns and ammunition, according to Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a spokesperson for the Limpopo police.

The circumstances of their escape are still being investigated, according to Mojapelo.

“A case of escaping from lawful custody has been opened, and investigations are continuing,” he added.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the commissioner of the Limpopo Police, has commanded that the prisoners be tracked down and returned to their rightful places (Jail).

South African residents have been warned not to approach the suspects since they are thought to be dangerous; instead, they should contact the police.
