Leo Stan Ekeh, OFR, Chairman of the Zinox Group and Global Advisor to Microsoft, is a Forbes Best of Africa Leading Tech Icon and one of Africa’s foremost serial disruptive digital entrepreneurs. A visionary technology leader, industrialist and nation builder, his pioneering work has shaped Africa’s ICT ecosystem for over three decades, spanning enterprise, infrastructure, governance and human capital development.
Mr. Ekeh holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Punjab University, India, and completed postgraduate studies in Risk Management at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, a foundation that has come to define his entrepreneurial philosophy. His contributions have earned him multiple honorary doctorates and fellowships from institutions including the University of Jos, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and Imo State University, alongside over 60 local and international awards, including Forbes’ Best of Africa Leading Tech Icon (2021), This Day CEO of the Year (2024), the National Productivity Order of Merit, and Nigeria’s national honour, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR). In 2002, he was honoured by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a Nigerian Icon of Hope.
In 1987, through Task Systems Ltd, he introduced Desktop Publishing and Computer Graphics to Nigeria, transforming the country’s publishing and media industries. He went on to build TD Africa into Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading technology and lifestyle distribution company, and in 2001 launched Zinox Technologies, producing Sub-Saharan Africa’s first internationally certified computer brand. Zinox has since delivered landmark national ICT projects, including Nigeria’s first digital voters’ registration system, Africa’s largest single ICT rollout for INEC, and the 2023 digital census and housing technology project.
A pioneer in African e-commerce, Mr. Ekeh’s 2018 acquisition of Konga reshaped the sector, growing it into Africa’s first true omnichannel commerce ecosystem spanning KongaPay, Konga Corporate, TD iLife, Konga Logistics, Konga Health, and Konga Travels and Tours. Through the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation, he invests billions of naira annually in education, entrepreneurship and digital inclusion, including a “Computerise Nigeria” initiative to provide one million laptops to Nigerian students and a revolving loan scheme supporting disadvantaged students and entrepreneurs.
