Hon. Justice Daketima Gabriel Kio, born on the 7th day of December, 1974 is a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Rivers State, Nigeria. Hon. Justice Daketima Gabriel Kio holds the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Public Law (Ph.D) with bias in Comparative Criminal Law from the University of Nigeria, 2019. He had his Master’s degree (LL.M) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2008) having obtained the degree of Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) with Second Class Honours, Upper Division from the Rivers State University (2003). Kio was called to the Nigerian Bar on Tuesday, 12th day of October, 2004.
Prior to his appointment as a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State on the 24th day of December, 2021, Hon. Justice Daketima Gabriel Kio was the Founding Partner of Lord Denning Chambers in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He was also a Senior Lecturer with the Novena University, Kwale, Delta State as well as Lecturer in Law with the Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Delta State where he contributed both in teaching and research in the area of Criminal Law, Law Practice, Jurisprudence and Legal Theory.
Justice Kio serves as Member of the Governing Board of the Justice Mary Odili Judicial Institute, Rivers State. He is a member of various professional bodies.
