On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima presented evidence to support their claim that Peter Obi is not a registered member of the Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State. In response to Obi and the LP’s petition, Tinubu and Shettima argued that Obi was not qualified to contest the previous presidential election on the LP’s platform since he was not a party member at the time.

Their legal representative, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), submitted a copy of the LP’s membership register for Anambra State, along with a letter from the LP dated April 25, 2022, which was addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). These documents were presented at the beginning of Tinubu and Shettima’s defense in the petition filed by Obi and the LP before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

Although Obi and the LP’s lawyer, Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), objected to the admission of the documents, the court accepted them as evidence and marked them as Exhibits RA17 and RA18.
