The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has officially announced the suspension of its ongoing strike after successful intervention by President Bola Tinubu and the Senate.
According to reports, during the protest in Abuja on Wednesday, demonstrators expressed their anger by tearing down the gates of the National Assembly in an attempt to meet with the lawmakers.
In response to the escalating situation, an emergency meeting was convened between the President and the leaders of the labor union.
The decision to end the strike was reached after careful consideration during the National Executive Council meeting of the Congress.
Hakeem Ambali, the national treasurer, conveyed the message on Thursday, stating, “The protest has been suspended due to the Senate’s intervention and the meeting held with President Tinubu yesterday.”
The labour center is expected to provide a comprehensive update to the public shortly.
