The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Conference Incident Investigation Committee (NBA-CIIC), has requested for vital information from members regarding the incident that took place at the just concluded 62nd Annual General Conference when the conference materials were being distributed.
Recall that various conference materials were stolen by some members of the association at the registration stand.
The statement issued by the NBA-CIIC reads in part:
This is to inform you that the NBA Conference Incident Investigation Committee (NBA-CIIC) has commenced an investigation into the incident of 23rd August, 2022, during the distribution of conference materials at the just concluded Annual General Conference.
Members of the NBA and the general public with useful information that may aid in the investigation are requested to contact the NBA-CIIC through: 08087905717; 08033452825; ciic@nigerianbar.org.ng.
Recall that the NBA President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN set up a committee headed by the Attorney General of Ekiti State, Olawale Fapohunda, SAN to investigate the AGC incident.
The committee was tasked with the responsibility to Investigate the said incident; the immediate and remote cause(s) of the same, and identify the persons involved therein and also make recommendations concerning the incident, taking into consideration the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2021), Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 and other relevant legislations, policies and guidelines.
