The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been dragged before Justice Hadiza Shagari of a Federal High Court in Kaduna by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), asking for the dismissal of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate’s for governor and state assembly in the 2023 election.

The list of APC candidates for governor and state assembly seats that INEC issued on July 22 is being opposed by NNPP.

The Electoral Act and other applicable legislation did not provide for the candidates to be elected through a legal procedure or with due process, according to NNPP.

The party is thus requesting that the court order INEC to act appropriately by deleting the APC candidates from the list of qualified candidates for the 2023 General Election.
