Justice Abubarka Muazu of the Bauchi High Court, Bauchi on February 9, 2022 convicted and sentenced one Umar Aliyu Sabo to two years imprisonment for obtaining the sum of N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousands Naira) under false pretences.
The convict who pleaded guilty to the charge, was arraigned on one count charge for inducing the complainant to pay him the said sum for the purchase of a non-existent plot of land at Federal Low Cost, Bauchi. The offence is contrary to Section 320 and Punishable under Section 321 of the Penal Code Law.
Justice Muazu gave the defendant an option of N100, 000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) fine and ordered to pay N330, 000.00 (Three Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira) in restitution to the nominal complainant through the Commission.
