Adeola Olumeyan is a strategic legal advisor and non-executive director with experience in policy development, board advisory, corporate governance, compliance, legal risk management, and intellectual property. She has provided top rate IP advisory services to many international blue-chip companies. She is a certified Board/Corporate Governance Auditor and Trainer, with demonstrated ability to consistently deliver value across businesses and obtain successful outcomes in a varied range of legal, governance and regulatory matters.
She currently works as Company Secretary of Channels TV/Assistant General Counsel at Channels Media Group, where she leads the development and implementation of several policies to enshrine good corporate governance within the Group. She is also a core member of the Group’s risk management team. As the Compliance officer and Coordinator of Channels Limited, UK, she supervises the development and implementation of policies for the UK operations, as well as the annual compliance summary report.
She led the legal team which successfully advised and structured a complex, landmark share acquisition transaction of a major free-to-air platform which had operations across Africa. She has conducted Board evaluations and trainings for Organizations in Nigeria. Adeola also provides legal advisory services for the African operation of a well-known NGO with presence in over 100 Countries.
She has served on Ministerial Committees set up by the Hon. Minister of Information and Culture. In 2021, she served as a member of the Advertising Practitioners Council Of Nigeria Code Review Committee. In 2019, she was the Secretary of the Sub-Committee on Monitoring/Technical, and member of the Legal Committee for the Reform of the National Broadcasting Commission.
As a Director and the chairman of the Board’s Governance Committee for Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN), Adeola helps drive the shaping of the Organization’s corporate governance processes and policies. She is also a Director and the chairman of the Board’s Risk and Governance Committee for Kaizen Academy Limited where she assists the Board in fulfilling its corporate governance oversight responsibilities and putting in place business continuity planning and disaster recovery planning.
In 2022, Adeola was nominated in two distinguished categories (Strategic Audit & Risk Management Advisor category; as well as Compliance Leader) of the prestigious “Modern Governance 100” by Diligent Corporation, UK. She won the nomination as a “Compliance Leader”. She was also recognized as one of 20 “Corporate Gems” in 2022 (a special recognition to celebrate “leading/exceptional” General Counsel in Nigeria) by the prestigious ESQ Award. In September 2020, she was nominated as one of “Forty Leading Ladies on Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria” by the Private Sector Advisory Group Nigeria (PSAG) in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on SDGs. The PSAG is a UN-led initiative for the SDGs working in collaboration with leading private businesses championing SDGs in Nigeria. In 2019 and 2016, Adeola was recognized in the prestigious ESQ Award as one of “40 Leading Nigerian Lawyers Under 40” who will shape the future of the legal profession in Nigeria.
She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (Nigeria chapter), and the Society for Corporate Governance, Nigeria. She is a lawyer, holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and has attended leadership courses at Harvard Business School, USA , TEXEM UK and Nanyang Business School, Singapore.
