An appeal court has upheld the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Dutse which dismissed the suit challenging Umar Namadi’s candidature in Jigawa State.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Commissioner for Special Duties in the state, Auwal D. Sankara.

The suit had challenged the conduct of the May 26 governorship primaries by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The case was filed on Wednesday by a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Farouk Adamu Aliyu on.

The presiding Judge at the High Court had described the case as lacking merit before dismissing it.

Aliyu contested in the primary election which produced Umar Namadi as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the APC in the state.

However, the Court of Appeal in its judgement today reaffirmed the candidature of Namadi as the gubernatorial flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming 2023 election.

Recall that the embattled Aliyu had asked the court to declare that the APC has no governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2023 election in Jigawa state.
