Ifeoma Ben has been honoured with an Award for Dedicated and Exemplary Service by the National Association of Catholic Lawyers, Lagos Archdiocese, in recognition of her contributions as Head of the Professional Development Committee from 2022 to 2026.
The award was presented on Sunday, 20 September 2026, during the Association’s Annual General Meeting, which followed the celebration of the New Legal Year Mass at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.
The event also marked the end of the tenure of the outgoing leadership of the Association and provided an opportunity to recognise members who contributed significantly to the growth, development and success of the Association during the tenure.
As Head of the Professional Development Committee, Ifeoma Ben led a sustained drive to provide practical learning and capacity building opportunities for Catholic lawyers, with particular emphasis on equipping members with skills relevant to contemporary legal practice.
From 2022 to 2026, the Committee organised a range of physical and virtual training programmes covering technology, emerging areas of law and practical professional skills.
Among the programmes organised under her leadership were hands on Microsoft training, Google Workspace training and Artificial Intelligence training, aimed at improving the digital competence and productivity of lawyers. The Committee also organised programmes on emerging and specialised practice areas, including Fashion Law and Immigration Law, among several other professional development initiatives.
The programmes reflected an approach to continuing legal education that went beyond traditional legal knowledge to address the changing demands of modern legal practice. Through a combination of technology focused training and exposure to emerging practice areas, members were provided with opportunities to acquire new skills, broaden their professional knowledge and remain relevant in an increasingly dynamic legal services environment.
The Award for Dedicated and Exemplary Service acknowledges Ifeoma Ben’s commitment to professional development and her contributions to the Association throughout her four year tenure as Head of the Committee.
Her service was part of the broader collective efforts of the leadership and members of the National Association of Catholic Lawyers, Lagos Archdiocese, towards strengthening the Association and advancing its objectives.
The presentation of the award at the conclusion of the tenure was therefore both a recognition of the work undertaken through the Professional Development Committee and a fitting conclusion to four years devoted to capacity building, professional growth and service to fellow lawyers.
Reflecting on the recognition, Ifeoma Ben expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Association for the opportunity to serve, as well as to members of the Professional Development Committee, facilitators, partners and participants whose support contributed to the success of the various programmes.
The 2026 New Legal Year Mass and Annual General Meeting brought the tenure to a close while celebrating a shared commitment to service, professional excellence and the continued development of Catholic lawyers within the Lagos Archdiocese.
