Hon. Justice Ayedun Olusegun Odusola has been sworn in as the state’s 12th Chief Judge by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

Up until the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended him, the governor nominated him, and the State House of Assembly gave its approval, Hon. Justice Odusola served as the state’s acting top judge.

As the new High Court Judges in the state, the governor also swore in Hon. Justices Bolatito Florence Ajibade, Bankole Jacob Akinwunmi, Leonard Boyede Ologun, and Femi Sylvester Akinbinnu.

Governor Akeredolu administered the oath of office to Pastor Omofunmile Adejombo, Mrs. Omolola Akinseloyin, and Mr. Stanley Adeniyan to become members of the State Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The ceremony was held in the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure, Alagbaka.

The governor said that being named the chief judge or one of the other judges is the highest honour that society can give to a citizen.

He said that their appointment not only showed that they were good at running the court and practising law but also showed that they were good people.

Akeredolu said that his government would keep its promise to support the judiciary. He also said, “Amidst the challenges faced by us, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 which impacted negatively on the finances of the State, we have continued to discharge our duties with utmost care and focus.”

The governor said that he had just approved the immediate start of construction on a brand-new, cutting-edge court facility.

According to the governor, the envisioned architectural wonder will include all the amenities of a contemporary courthouse, including 21 courtrooms, a cutting-edge ceremonial hall, a library, and more.

In his acceptance address, the new Chief Judge thanked the governor for acting on the NJC’s recommendations and appointing him and four other people to the state High Court.
