The request for live coverage of court proceedings was denied by Justice Haruna Tsammani, the chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Justice Tsammani stated at the Monday hearing in Abuja that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) appeal lacked merit.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, submitted a request on May 8 for a ruling allowing live coverage of the daily court hearings in the case they initiated against Bola Tinubu after the election on February 25.

The Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, followed suit with a similar application asking that proceedings of the tribunal be televised.
