Anti-corruption Fight: Olukoyede Seeks Enhanced Collaboration from Security Agencies

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede has tasked security agencies across the country to step up collaboration and unity of purpose with the EFCC in the fight against corruption.

He made the call recently during familiarisation visits to the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, Nigerian Airforce Base, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Kaduna State.

Represented by the Acting Zonal Director, Kaduna Zonal Command, DCE Dr Benedict Ubi, Olukoyede disclosed that the visit was also to seek improved collaboration in the overall interest of the country.

Speaking at the two military formations, the EFCC Chair who stated that the Commission and the military enjoyed longstanding good working relationship, added that “this is not the time for agencies or agents of government to engage in unhealthy rivalry but sustainable collaboration with others is necessary for the peace, security and wellbeing of the country and for all actors of the state to identify with the anti-corruption fight as not doing so will embolden the corrupt.”

Responding, Rex Dundun, Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Kaduna State praised Olukoyede’s initiative for more collaborative efforts among security agencies in the fight against corruption. While stating that anti-social elements “are dynamic, well resourced and coordinated,” Dundun noted that collaboration and cooperation are drivers of law enforcement engagements.

In a related development, the newly-posted Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Kaduna Command, Sani Aliyu Aambursa also applauded the EFCC for its dedication and successes in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes. Aambursa who came on a courtesy visit to Ubi used the occasion to solicit for enhanced collaboration between EFCC and NIS.
Ubi expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State NIS boss for the visit and assured him of EFCC’s continued hand of fellowship.
