The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has finally met with the House of Representatives Committee probing the new policy on the naira redesign and swap.

The meeting was held on Tuesday after the CBN governor was threatened with arrest for refusing to accept earlier invitations.

The convergence, which was held at the National Assembly, reportedly started at around 12:05.

Ado Doguwa, the committee’s chairman, announced that Emefiele had provided an explanation for his absence as the meeting got underway.

The change follows the apex bank’s extending of the deadline for the phase-out of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.

The House of Representatives Committee established to investigate the naira redesign and withdrawal strategy will interrogate Emefiele about the effects of the choice, among other things.
