Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who on January 8 this year voided the detention of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and ordered his release was on Wednesday inaugurated as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
At the inauguration ceremony performed at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the CJN charged the new Justices to be upright in their justice delivery to Nigerians without fear or favour.
The CJN tasked the new Judges to abide with allegiance to the dictates of the Almighty God and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ariwoola maintained that the solemn pledge and commitment to good conduct in the course of adjudication remains crucial for Judges, especially as senior judicial officers in the appellate court.
He maintained that the number of Justices sworn in today was quite unprecedented in the recent history of the Court of Appeal adding that, the last time the Judiciary witnessed such was on Monday, 28 June, 2021.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria added that the ceremony was an indication of the perilous times in the country, which has resulted in an upsurge in litigation saying Several unfathomable crimes are being committed in the country, aside from the usual political matters that have made litigations to go on alarming rise.
