The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at registration areas and wards across the country would start on Friday (INEC).

In a statement published on Thursday in Abuja by Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission stated that the ward-level collection would end on January 15.

Okoye urged everyone who had registered to vote but hadn’t yet collected their voter’s cards to do so.

“The devolution of PVC collecting to the wards begins tomorrow, Friday, January 6, 2023. All lawfully registered voters who have not yet picked up their PVCs are encouraged to take advantage of the devolution to the wards to do so.

“After Jan. 15, the exercise will revert to the Local Government Offices of the Commission until Jan. 22.

“All eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from 9 am to 3 pm daily, including Saturdays and Sundays.

“All those that applied for replacement of lost, damaged, or defaced PVCs can collect their PVCs at the Registration Area/wards during this period and the same thing applies to those that registered prior to the 2019 general election and are yet to collect their cards.

“The PVCs of those that applied for transfer are available for collection in the Local Governments and Registration Areas where they intend to vote and not in the State or Local Government where they carried out the transfer.”

Okoye stated that INEC commended the patience and tolerance of Nigerians who flocked to different Local Government Offices to obtain their PVCs.

He claimed that INEC was making efforts to make the collection of the cards easy and hassle-free for Nigerians.
