The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says that it has received the final shipment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems (BVAS) voting machines in preparation of the general elections in 2023.

Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Commission’s Information and Voter Education Committee, made this announcement in a statement made available to Channels Television on Wednesday.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, national commissioners, and senior Commission officials, according to him, were in Abuja on Tuesday to greet the BVAS at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

According to Okoye, the Commission established four airport hubs in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt to aid in the efficient delivery of the devices.

He claimed that many flights delivered the BVAS to the specified airports over the previous four months so that it could be transported to the states of the Federation in time for the elections.

According to the INEC commissioner, the Commission has now received the necessary quantity of BVAS for all of the country’s polling places as well as extra machines in accordance with its contingency provisions for all essential election supplies with the arrival of the last flight in Abuja on Tuesday.

He continued by saying that the Commission is grateful for all Nigerians’ support in its desire to hold free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive general elections in 2023.

The BVAS is one of major technologies INEC is deploying to ensure credible and transparent polls next month.
