‘You’re called to serve’ – Tinubu Tells New Ministers

President Bola Tinubu has urged the newly appointed ministers to embrace their roles as a call to service, asking them to work alongside him to address Nigeria’s current challenges.

The President gave this charge in Abuja, following the ministers’ swearing-in after their screening and confirmation by the National Assembly.

Tinubu emphasized that “service is the hallmark of human endeavour” and expressed confidence in the nation’s economic recovery.

He acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians are facing, including the high cost of living, but noted progress with the implementation of a new minimum wage and the reduction of debt servicing from 97% to 65% of revenue.

“We have a good path to realise our dreams and it is not just only for us, it is for our children and grandchildren,” Tinubu stated.

The newly sworn-in ministers include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour & Employment; and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Others appointed are Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment (Trade and Investment); Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State for Education.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for efficiently reviewing and approving the new ministers.

In her remarks, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu thanked President Tinubu for her appointment and pledged to support the administration’s foreign policy objectives, stating, “The President has made things easier by establishing a clear foreign policy direction.”
