In a goodwill message to the Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK), former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, commended the Makurdi Bar for its courage and commitment to addressing the pressing realities confronting the legal system. I extend warm greetings and hearty congratulations to the Chairman, Executive Committee Members and the entire Membership of NBA Makurdi Branch as you mark your 2025 Annual Law Week themed *“Law Practice in a Volatile Landscape: Evolving Trends and Coping Strategies.”*
This theme speaks directly to the time we live in—a time when faith in the justice system is shaken, when insecurity and the harassment of lawyers by security agents are sadly becoming normalized, and when even within the profession, some have chosen to sidestep the Remuneration Order, undermining the dignity of our work.
But I salute your courage. I salute your determination to confront these issues head-on. Law Week is not just about celebration—it is about reflection, strategy, and recommitment. I urge you to keep pushing boundaries, keep asking the hard questions, and above all, keep holding the line.
