Yemi Akangbe, SAN Applauds NBA Enugu Branch’s Initiative on Ethics and Anti-Money Laundering Training

In a goodwill message delivered ahead of a key professional development event, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, has commended the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Enugu Branch for organizing a pivotal one-day training on the Rules of Professional Conduct and Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT). The training brings together legal professionals to engage with pressing issues of ethics, compliance, and national security, reinforcing the Bar’s commitment to upholding integrity in legal practice.

Akangbe lauded the leadership of V.C. Odo, Esq., Chairman of the NBA Enugu Branch, for organizing the impactful training session. He also commended the facilitators, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, SAN and Ikeazor Akaraiwe, SAN—for their commitment to professional excellence and for bringing their wealth of experience to bear in deepening participants’ understanding of core ethical and regulatory responsibilities.

I most heartily felicitate the Nigerian Bar Association, Enugu Branch, on the occasion of this important one-day training for legal practitioners on the Rules of Professional Conduct and Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism. As members of the noble profession, we must remain ever vigilant and informed on matters that shape ethical practice and national security.

I especially commend the Chairman of the Branch, V.C. Odo, Esq., for his focused leadership. I also salute Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, SAN, the lead Facilitator, and Ikeazor Akaraiwe, SAN, the Co-Facilitator, for bringing their depth of knowledge and experience to bear in furtherance of the mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirement as stipulated by the NBA Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) Rules, 2025. May this training deepen our professional understanding and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the highest standards at the Bar.
