Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, Past Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, was a distinguished participant at the NBA Section on Legal Practice (SLP) Conference held in Jos, Plateau State. The Conference, themed “Uncommon Challenges in a Rapidly Changing Legal Environment,” provided a platform for robust discourse among legal practitioners.
During the event, Akangbe SAN presented a thought-provoking paper titled “An Overview of the Handshake Between Public Interest Litigation and Democracy.” In his presentation, he commended the NBA and the NBA-SLP for their active engagement in public interest litigation and urged them to intensify their efforts to safeguard democratic values through continued advocacy.
At the conclusion of the Young Lawyers’ Debate, Akangbe SAN demonstrated his support for the next generation of legal professionals by providing financial support to the participants. He further encouraged the NBA and the SLP to invest even more in capacity-building initiatives and the sponsorship of activities that empower young lawyers within the Association.
He also praised the NBA-SLP for organizing an insightful and intellectually stimulating conference, noting that such initiatives are crucial for elevating the standard of legal practice in Nigeria.

Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN, Past Chairman, NBA Lagos Branch attends NBA-SLP Conference in Jos, Plateau State, where he interacted with lawyers and made vital contributions to the theme of the Conference – “uncommon challenges in a rapidly changing legal environment”.
The learned silk also presented a paper on the topic – “An overview of the handshake between public interest litigation and democracy” – where interalia he commended the NBA and the NBA-SLP on their efforts in public interest litigation and charged them to do more.
At the conclusion of the Young Lawyers Debate, he financially supported the participants and encouraged the NBA and the SLP to continue in capacity building and sponsorship of more Young Lawyers’ activities within the NBA.
He also commended the NBA-SLP for an insightful and thought provoking conference.
