Wike Has Been A Major Influence on the Nigerian Judiciary – Sowore

Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has labelled immediate past governor of Rivers State and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, as the ‘chief corruptor of the Nigerian judiciary who has the judges in his breast pocket’

Sowore who is also the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, made the allegations in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, saying Wike’s significant influence over the Nigerian judiciary is akin to effectively pocketing them and telling them what to do at every point in time.

According to the activist, Wike’s influence on the Nigerian judiciary is so profound that his wishes are often granted even before he makes them known.

“Nyesom Wike has been a major (influence on) the judiciary. In judicial circles, he is called the “Golden Boy of the Judiciary” because of his uncanny ability to help corrupt the judiciary,” Sowore said in the post.

Citing the tenure of a President of the Court of Appeal, Sowore alleged that Wike awarded a contract to build the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital which he said was another form of putting it on his payroll.

“Building judges’ houses is a direct bribe; besides this brazen bribery of judicial officers, Wike is also allocating lands to senior judges in choice areas in Abuja as we speak!

“Wike has the Nigerian judiciary in his breast pocket,” Sowore said.
