Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, legal counsel to the popular crossdresser Bobrisky, informed the House of Representatives Committee that Bobrisky could not appear due to illness.
However, when the committee requested evidence of his client’s health condition from a doctor, Omuvwie admitted he had no such documentation.
In a related development, Verydarkman, who had previously appeared before the committee to address his allegations against Bobrisky, refused to testify, stating that his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, would speak on his behalf. He also justified his refusal based on Bobrisky’s absence from the probe.
In response, the committee ordered Verydarkman to return and personally answer questions related to his claims. The chairman stressed that the committee controls the proceedings and Bobrisky’s attendance, and that Verydarkman must comply or face potential detention by the parliament.
Chairman of the Committee said: “You are not expected to dictate to us whether Bobrisky comes here or not, it is left to us to decide, we can also compel him to come before us we can invoke our powers to arrest him.”
“We can compel Bobrisky to appear before us and even arrest him if necessary.”
“Your allegations have led to the invitation of top government officials, so it’s imperative you speak to these allegations.”
“You are here already to testify, I will advise you go ahead, don’t let anyone deceive you. To the lawyer please advise your client.”
Verydarkman’s refusal to speak has sparked concerns, with the Committee threatening to exercise its powers if he fails to comply.
