US Court Sentences Socialite, Hushpuppi To 11 Years Imprisonment

Abbas Ramon also known as Hushpuppi , a well-known Instagram user from Nigeria, was found guilty of fraud and money laundering in the US and given an 11-year prison sentence.

On Friday, November 4, 2022, Hushpuppi received a sentence from Judge Otis Wright of the United States Central District Court in California.

Remember that the social media sensation was detained in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in June 2020 for worldwide fraud?

He was thereafter extradited to the United States, where he was he was charged with fraud and money laundering.

Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in money laundering with multiple people within and outside the US.

He also apologised to his family members for bringing them shame while commending the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for doing a thorough job in bringing him to justice.

On Friday, he was sentenced to 11 years in jail but will spend only nine years in prison as he has already spent two years in prison in the US.
