Uchenna Akingbade Emerges Chairman as NBA Lagos Branch Elects New Officers

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch, has concluded its highly anticipated election, ushering in a new leadership for the premier branch of the association. Following an electronic voting process, Uchenna Ogunedo Akingbade emerged as the new Chairman with a total of 552 votes, defeating his closest rival Nonso Azih, who polled 419 votes. Abiye Tam George secured 72 votes in the keenly contested race

In the position of Treasurer, Ogechi Olisa Mokelu claimed victory with 538 votes, edging past Jacob Dipo Famodimu who garnered 488 votes. The office of Publicity Secretary saw a decisive win for Oliver Omoredia, who recorded the highest margin in the election with 712 votes, defeating Bayo Olusanya who received 325 votes.

The Electoral Committee, in an official statement released at the close of polls, declared Uchenna Akingbade as Chairman, Ogechi Mokelu as Treasurer, and Oliver Omoredia as the new Publicity Secretary. The committee commended all candidates for demonstrating professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the process, and praised members of the branch for their active participation.

This election marks another milestone in the democratic tradition of the NBA Lagos Branch, reaffirming its commitment to transparent leadership and the rule of law. With the new executives now poised to take the helm, members look forward to a new chapter of service, advocacy, and institutional growth under their stewardship.
