During the presidential election petitions tribunal session on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu submitted his Chicago State University credentials as evidence. This action took place as he commenced his defense against a petition filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, and the party itself, challenging his election victory.
Tinubu’s legal representative, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), presented the documents, including an admission letter, to demonstrate that the president had attended and successfully completed his studies at the institution.
Additionally, Tinubu provided documents issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to support his contention that he had received clearance for his trips to the United States. These documents aimed to refute the criminal allegations made against him by the PDP and other opposition parties.
Furthermore, the panel acknowledged the admission of an originating summons pertaining to a lawsuit filed by the Attorneys General of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, and Sokoto States at the Supreme Court. The lawsuit challenges the president’s eligibility for the election.
