Tinubu Urges Nigerians to test New Personal Income Tax Calculator

President Bola Tinubu on Friday encouraged Nigerians to make use of a newly introduced Personal Income Tax calculator, designed to help citizens estimate their tax obligations under the recently enacted tax reforms.

In a statement shared on his official X account, the President said the tool enables individuals to compare their current tax rates with projections under the new framework, which is set to take effect in January 2026.

According to Tinubu, the reforms aim to establish a fair and equitable tax system that shields low-income earners and promotes transparency.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable,” the President said. “With the new tax laws I recently signed, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy.”

He explained that the calculator demonstrates how the reforms “protect low-income earners, ensure progressivity, and simplify compliance in order to deliver a transparent system that works for all.”

Tinubu urged Nigerians to have confidence in the reforms, adding: “Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community.”
