In a statement released on Saturday through his media aide, Rasheed Abubakar, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has called on Nigerians to await the Supreme Court’s judgment on the validity of President Bola Tinubu’s certificate.
Highlighting the prevalence of numerous accusations and counter-accusations surrounding the President’s certificate status in the media, Mumuni, who was the gubernatorial candidate for the now-defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in Lagos State during the 2011 elections, stressed the importance of patience. He urged citizens to allow the apex court to ascertain the accurate legal stance on this matter.
As discussions regarding President Tinubu’s certificate continue to capture public attention, Mumuni emphasized the significance of letting the judicial process unfold and determine the factual position in this contentious issue.
He said, “There is need for caution. We do not need all these unnecessary comments and counter-comments. We’ve got to be very careful so as not to run foul of the law. The judges are there to determine the true position of the certificate. There is no need for all these distractions.
“I have read multiple commentaries and listened to multiple broadcasts from different angles regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic credentials. It is better we stay away from getting tangled with the charade.
“Let’s remain calm for the respected judges of the highest court in the land to arrive at the point of decision, according to the electoral law. I once again call for more polite communication between the gladiators as tomorrow promises to be brighter than the present”.
