Tinubu Approves New Salary Structure for Health Workers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the review of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for Health Professionals in the Federal Public Service. The new salary structure will be implemented from the 1st of June, 2023.

Ekpo Nta, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, conveyed this decision through a circular dated 26th July 2023, which was released to the media in Abuja on Thursday.

Mr. Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Information at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, confirmed that the circular indeed originated from the Commission.

The President’s approval came after the Commission conducted a review of the Health Sector Salary Structures.

Additionally, President Tinubu has also approved a 25 per cent adjustment to the peculiar allowance for Medical and Dental Doctors working in hospitals, medical centers, and clinics within the Federal Public Service.

In a separate circular, Nta stated that the Federal Government has granted the payment of a quarterly Accoutrement Allowance of twenty-five thousand Naira (N25,000:00) to Medical and Dental Doctors in the Federal Public Service. The allowance will be paid from the overhead budget and is effective from 1st June 2023.

Following the upward review of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, a health worker on Grade Level will now earn N45,000 per annum, while a Grade Level 15 health worker will earn N6,315,091 annually.
