At the 2-Day Sensitisation Event on the 2023 Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners, organised by the Nigerian Bar Association in collaboration with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme on February 3rd-4th, 2025, Mr. Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN made insightful contributions during the workshop, responding thoughtfully to key points raised throughout the discussions.
In addressing the significance of the initiative, Mr. Akangbe highlighted the value of the program which brought together “trainers that will train people in the various branches.” He praised the program for selecting expert trainers to guide practitioners through the revised rules. His remarks highlighted the necessity for legal professionals to remain well-informed and to uphold the ethical standards that form the foundation of the profession.
Mr. Akangbe expressed strong support for the initiative, stating, “This initiative is a very good one,” and recognising its role in strengthening legal practice. He also emphasised the critical need for continuous education and training to maintain integrity within the profession, especially in light of the updated RPC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance requirements.
As the event concluded, Mr. Akangbe’s remarks resonated deeply with the participants, encouraging them to apply the knowledge gained in their respective practices. His emphasis on integrity and the collective responsibility of legal professionals to uphold values such as justice and ethical conduct left a lasting impression, reinforcing the importance of these principles for the future of the legal profession in Nigeria.
