The Phenomenal Woman Conference 2.0: “Use your Underestimation as a Leverage; not as a Limitation”, Dr Kere-Ahmed Tells Women

At The Phenomenal Woman Conference 2.0, themed “The Power of Her Voice: Influence, Impact, Inspire,” Dr Fatima Kere Ahmed asked women not to accept defeat or limitation in life.

Dr Fatima Kere Ahmed serves as a Director of the Proceeds of Crime Recovery Management Department at the Code of Conduct Bureau, Nigeria.

Speaking at the Conference, Dr Fatima reflected on her career journey in the law enforcement sector where she noted that men usually dominate and are more visible than women. She stated that she did not allow that challenge to define her growth and success in life.

“As a woman, you must have a goal and just do it; avoid distractions. Sometimes, in a male-dominated field, they always feel that women don’t know what they are doing. But when you know your ability and worth, they will call you. They will find you because they know you can do it.”

“Women, you may be underestimated but use it as a leverage, not as a limitation,” she added.

Dr Fatima went on to encourage women to boost their networking and accept mentorship from those who are higher or doing better than them.

“Your network is your networth, you need mentors to guide, and sponsors to propel you. I can never underestimate the roles of mentorship in my life,“ Dr Fatima said.

Concluding in her speech, Dr Fatima advised women to make efforts to balance both career and family life and support each other.

“You must be able to have balance in both family, career and motherhood, and let’s learn how to support each other.”

“Let’s come together and support one another. Also, you don’t have to wait for the perfect timing and condition as a woman. Start right now to build, to grow and give back to society,” she noted.
