Taraba Council Chairman meets Police CP to Tackle Insecurity

The Takum Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Benjamin Bako, on Tuesday met with the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpe Isokpan Otimenyin, to strengthen security operations in the local government.

Hon. Bako disclosed during the meeting in Jalingo that the visit was to ensure collaboration with the police to address security emergencies in the area.

The council chairman stated that his desire is to enhance cooperation between the local government, the police and community leaders through intelligence sharing and vigilance to improve law and order in the local government.

“My desire is to ensure that the security of the lives and property of Takum citizens is guaranteed. I wish to enhance cooperation between the Takum local government, the police and community leaders through intelligence sharing and vigilance to improve law and order.

“My visit to the Commissioner of Police is to ensure stronger collaboration with the police to address security emergencies in the local government,” Bako disclosed.

The council chairman, while commending the CP for the professionalism demonstrated so far, noted that the development has attracted relative peace and infrastructural development in the state.

“The professionalism demonstrated by the police across Taraba has not only brought peace but has also attracted infrastructural development. The ongoing International Cattle Market and the refurbishment of the Takum Council Secretariat, among other initiatives supported by the TY Danjuma Foundation, are some of the benefits that have motivated me to seek stronger collaboration with the security agencies to achieve more in Takum LGA,” the chairman added.

In her response, CP Enekpe assured the police’s commitment to ensuring a crime-free society in Taraba.

The commissioner commended the Hon. Bako for the courage to prioritise the security of citizens at the local government level.
