On Friday, the Supreme Court refused to nullify Peter Mbah’s election as governor of Enugu State.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Uche Nnaji’s appeal was denied by the court.
The supreme court’s five-judge panel unanimously decided that Nnaji and his party filed an incorrect brief of argument, rendering their appeal ineligible.
The court also pointed out that Nnaji did not adequately justify the use of the erroneous process he filed to overturn Mbah’s victory.
Nnaji’s case against Mbah had been dismissed by the Enugu Court of Appeal in July.
Governor Mbah’s victory was contested by Nnaji, who claimed that the majority of valid ballots cast did not properly elect him.
