The Supreme Court has affirmed the re-election of Hope Uzodinma as the authentic governor of Imo state.
The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and its governorship candidate Samuel Anyawu and that of the Labour Party and it’s candidate Achonu Nneji for lacking in merit.
A five-member panel of the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, for lack of merit.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja, July 16, dismissed the appeal filed by the PDP and its candidate challenging the decision of the Imo State governorship election petition tribunal to uphold the governor’s victory in the poll.
A three-member panel led by Justice Bitrus Sanga held that the appeal lacked merit having resolved all issues against the appellants in the suit.
The appellate court also dismissed the appeal by the Labour Party and its candidate, Nathan Achonu, for the same reason.
Dissatisfied with the rulings, the opposition parties approached the Supreme Court for justice.
Justice Mohamed Idris, who delivered the lead judgement on Friday, resolved all the issues raised for determination in the appeal against the appellants.
He equally dismissed the appeal by LP and its candidate for being unmeritorious.
