To ease the effects of the elimination of the fuel subsidy, the federal government announced a N5 billion palliative for each state of the federation, including the federal capital territory (FCT).
At the conclusion of a meeting of the national economic council (NEC), Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno state, made the statement in Abuja on Thursday.
The council is made up of governors of the 36 states, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (BN) and other coopted government officials.
Vice President Kashim Shettima presided over the meeting.
