Stakeholders in Nigeria’s security sector have called for a united, non-partisan approach to end the persistent killings of security personnel, warning that continued attacks pose a serious threat to national stability and public confidence.
Speaking at the National Security Dialogue on the campaign against the killing of security personnel in Abuja, the Director of Logistics, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Friday Bassey, described the attacks as both a humanitarian crisis and a national security emergency.
Also speaking, SP Kuti, representing the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, emphasized the importance of civil-security collaboration, intelligence sharing and community engagement in preventing attacks and improving early threat detection.
Commander of the NSCDC Mining Marshal, ACC Attah Onoja, said the persistent killing of security personnel should be a concern to every patriotic Nigerian.
The convener of the dialogue, Amb. Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi, emphasized the need to recognize and celebrate security officers while alive and in active service, rather than only after their death. The dialogue concluded with calls for sustained collaboration, patriotism and collective responsibility to end attacks on security personnel and safeguard national stability.
