A seasoned legal practitioner with extensive experience across Nigeria, England, and Wales, Tobenna has built an impressive career leading the Finance, Energy & Major Projects Practice Team at The Law Crest LLP. His legal journey began with an LLB from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, followed by an LLM in Corporate Finance Law from the University of Westminster. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2000 and to the senior courts of England and Wales in 2005.
Tobenna’s expertise spans multiple sectors, including energy and natural resources, corporate finance, project finance, public-private partnerships, construction & real estate, and mergers & acquisitions. His remarkable achievements include:
• Leading a $600 million debt restructuring and acquisition for a major oil and gas company in Nigeria.
• Advising the borrower in a $450 million financing for an oil mining lease.
• Acting as Nigerian counsel in securing up to $600 million for oil exploration and production under OML 65.
Despite his demanding career, Tobenna has remained committed to empowering others. As the immediate past Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Bar Association Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE), he led the delivery of over 200 free training sessions to members of the NBA. His dedication to capacity building and mentorship has earned him admiration across the legal community.
