Anthony Atata,a Sports Lawyer and Sports promoter has been appointed to Chair the Abia State Cycling Association
He will be saddled with building a robust Cycling plan that will cover both recreational and professional cycling to ensure that professional cyclists for local and International competitions emerge from Abia State.
Speaking in Aba, Abia State, Atata stated that he will hit the ground running with programs aimed at integrating students of the three Major Tertiary institutions in the state into Cycling.
He further said that talent hunt events will be held for students in secondary schools targeting major international events in the future.
Mr Atata also stated that two major categories of Cycling time trials will be promoted at the moment, namely Road and Mountain Cycling.
” Cycling is an expensive sport, we shall work closely with sponsors to achieve mutually beneficial sponsorship deals to promote our agenda in Cycling.”

The new logo for Abia Cycling was unveiled.
Anthony Atata is the founder of Native Chiefs Cycling club and as the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Sports and Recreation committee,he introduced Cycling as part of lawyers sports activities.
He is also involved in the promotion of other sports activities cutting across Table Tennis, Football, Tennis etc. He is the founder and promoter of Lawyers Table Tennis Open ( Mfon Usoro)
Mr Atata is a practising lawyer based in Lagos who has served as the Chairman of International Bar Association, African region and the Chair of Nigerian Bar Association Sports and recreation committee in Lagos.
