Dr. Adebowale Abraham Adedokun is Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), an accomplished procurement professional, visionary reformer and transformational leader whose career has been dedicated to strengthening public sector governance and advancing procurement excellence in Nigeria. Appointed Director General on 14 November 2024, he brings decades of experience in procurement, supply chain management, policy development and institutional reform to the role.
A highly accomplished academic and practitioner, Dr. Adedokun holds a PhD in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, alongside an M.Sc. in Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, an MBA in Financial Management, an M.Sc. in Transport Management, and an MBA in Technology Management. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), United Kingdom, and a member of several other prestigious professional bodies.
Since the establishment of the Bureau under the Public Procurement Act 2007, Dr. Adedokun has been a central figure in Nigeria’s procurement reform journey, strengthening procurement systems, enhancing transparency and accountability, driving anti-corruption initiatives and building the capacity of thousands of procurement professionals nationwide. As Director General, he is leading a new era of procurement transformation anchored on innovation, inclusion and national development, advancing landmark initiatives including the Nigeria First Policy, the expansion of e-Procurement, the National Procurement Management System (NAPOMS), Sector-Based Procurement Frameworks, and the professionalisation of the procurement cadre across the public service.
His reform agenda extends to Affirmative Procurement, expanding opportunities for women, youths and persons with disabilities in public contracting; Food Procurement Frameworks, strengthening agricultural value chains and food security; and Community-Based Procurement, empowering local communities and ensuring public procurement delivers measurable benefits directly to citizens. A globally recognised procurement expert, he has collaborated with international development partners including the World Bank, USAID and the European Union on reforms that reflect global best practice while addressing Nigeria’s development priorities.
