Annual event scheduled for November 26 in Lagos to examine investor confidence and specialised resolution of international commercial disputes
SPA Ajibade & Co. has announced Thursday, November 26, 2026, as the date for its 19th Annual Business Luncheon. The annual gathering will examine critical issues shaping Nigeria’s business, investment and legal landscape.
The luncheon will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Lagos State, Nigeria, under the theme: “Strengthening Investor Confidence in Nigeria: Is Establishing a Specialised Nigerian Forum for the Settlement of International Commercial Disputes the Answer?”
The theme explores the relationship between effective dispute resolution and investor confidence. It also invites stakeholders to consider whether a specialised Nigerian forum for resolving international commercial disputes could strengthen the country’s position as an investment destination.
As businesses navigate increasingly complex commercial relationships, credible and efficient dispute-resolution mechanisms remain an important consideration for investors. The discussion will therefore address timely questions about Nigeria’s dispute-resolution framework and opportunities to strengthen its appeal to domestic and international businesses.
Exploring Nigeria’s Investment Climate
The 19th edition of the luncheon will provide a platform for discussion at the intersection of law, commerce and economic development.
Participants will consider the potential benefits, institutional requirements and practical challenges of establishing a specialised Nigerian forum for international commercial disputes.
The conversation will be relevant to legal practitioners, business leaders, investors, policymakers, arbitrators and other stakeholders interested in Nigeria’s commercial justice system and investment climate.
Essay Competition Opens Ahead of Luncheon
SPA Ajibade & Co. has also announced an essay competition based on the luncheon’s theme.
The competition is open to lawyers with between one and seven years of post-call experience. Participants must submit essays of no more than 2,000 words, use the OSCOLA referencing style and comply with the prescribed formatting requirements.
