The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Enugu Branch, gathered its members and legal luminaries for its 2025 Annual General Meeting, with this year’s theme, “Servant Leadership: The Journey So Far,” sparking deep reflection on the values that define true leadership within the legal profession. Among the prominent voices lending support to the event was former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK), who delivered a heartfelt goodwill message commending the branch’s consistent dedication to people-centered leadership.
In his address, Akangbe emphasized that leadership within the Bar must transcend titles and applause, and instead be rooted in integrity, humility, and service. He praised the Enugu Branch for embodying the principles of servant leadership, urging members to continue building a Bar where influence is used not for dominance but to uplift others. His message added a powerful tone of encouragement to an already reflective gathering of legal professionals committed to advancing the ideals of responsibility-driven leadership.

It is a pleasure to extend my warmest felicitation to the Branch Executive committee and distinguished members of the Enugu Branch as you gather for your 2025 Annual General Meeting.
The theme, “Servant Leadership: The Journey So Far,” invites thoughtful reflection. Leadership in our profession must not be about titles or applause, but about responsibility—service anchored in integrity, humility, and purpose.
Servant leadership means showing up, even when it’s inconvenient. It means leading by listening, not just speaking. And it means using influence not to dominate, but to uplift.
The Enugu Branch has consistently exemplified these ideals. I commend your commitment to building a Bar where leadership is earned through service, not entitlement.
As you take stock of the journey so far, I encourage you to remain bold, honest, and people-centered in your path forward.
