The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 75-year-old man, Isa Nana Okpoku at Daddare Development Area of Nasarawa State for defiling his four-year-old niece.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramlan Nansel disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Sunday.
According to the statement, Okpoku was arrested by the Operatives of the Nigeria Police attached to Obi Division following a report lodged on Saturday at about 0800hrs.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his niece are both residents in the same house thus, he lured the victim into his room and willfully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
“The victim was however, rushed to the hospital for medical examination where the doctor confirmed the hymen is broken,” Nansel said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Mohammed Baba has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the dastardly act in which upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
