Tolulope Olatunji, 35, was charged by the police in Lagos on Monday for stealing N545,500 through a POS system.
She appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
A trial involving theft and fraud is being held against the defendant, a sales executive who lives at 34/36 Olatunji Street in Ojota, Lagos.
The defendant committed the crimes between March and April at Shop 13, Plot 7, Agidingbi, Ikeja, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo.
Odugbo said the defendant transferred N545,500 into another account while servicing a POS device owned by her employer, Helpline Telecom Nigeria Ltd.
According to the prosecutor, the offenses were under Sections 287 and 323 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. F. Onamusi, granted the defendant a N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until September 20 for mention.
