Henry Nduka Awuregu, a member of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) for the successful conduct of the state’s local government elections.
His commendation followed the August 22, 2026 local government elections in Ebonyi State, in which the ruling All Progressives Congress won all 13 chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.
Awuregu described the exercise as a demonstration of the Nwifuru administration’s commitment to democratic governance and grassroots development.
He praised the governor for providing an enabling environment for the election to take place peacefully, noting that the conduct of the poll had further strengthened democratic participation at the local government level.
The RMAFC member also commended EBSIEC for its role in conducting the election, urging the commission and other stakeholders to sustain the credibility and transparency associated with the exercise.
Awuregu said the peaceful conduct of the election was particularly commendable, stressing that local government elections provide an important opportunity for citizens to choose leaders who are closer to them and understand their needs.
He called on the newly elected council chairmen and councillors to reciprocate the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by prioritising development, accountability and improved services at the grassroots.
Awuregu further urged the elected officials to work closely with the state government to advance the development agenda of the Nwifuru administration across the 13 local government areas.
