The Head of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, CP Akin Fakorede, allegedly pressured the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to release company records linked to the River Park Estate dispute in Abuja, police sources told Journalists on Thursday.
Sources said Fakorede visited the CAC office under the guise of a “courtesy call” on September 3, but the meeting reportedly aimed to influence the ongoing River Park Estate case, which remains under review by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
During the closed-door meeting, Fakorede is said to have tried to coerce the CAC Registrar General into overriding the AGF’s binding directive.
The AGF’s letter of July 21, 2025, invoked Section 105(1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, ordering the Nigeria Police Force to halt all actions regarding the case and transmit the case file for legal review.
