Reps Pass N58.47tn 2026 Budget Proposal for Second Reading

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the N58.47 trillion proposed 2026 budget for the second reading.

The budget estimate is hinged on macroeconomic stability, improved security, and increased allocation for the execution of capital projects across the country.

Titled “The Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity,” the proposal was presented to a joint session of the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu on December 19, 2025.

Addressing his colleagues on the general principles of the Appropriation Bill, House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere said President Tinubu assumed office during a difficult period, adding that the reforms currently being implemented were expected to come with pains and inconveniences.
